How many times do people ask for a WIFI password when they come to your home or business place? Sharing your WIFI password with your friends is easy. However, it becomes a daunting task if you have to walk several people through a secured network.
There is an easier way to create a QR code that allows people to connect to a specific WIFI network. You can use an Android app to create a WiFi QR code that you can share with your friends.
When people scan this code, they can connect to your network. You can save it for use in the future so that you don’t keep repeating the same thing. Below is a step by step guide.
1. Look for SSID and Network Type Encryption
The first thing is to locate the SSID. The SSID is the name of your WIFI network. For instance, your WIFI name can be “ABC Bar & Grill,” and this is your SSID.
Don’t know the name of your SSID? Go to the WIFI menu in your phone’s settings. Some phones hide the menu on a sub-menu such as “Connections” or “Internet and Network.” The SSID, in this case, is the one that says “connected.” Remember that your SSID is case-sensitive. Make sure you enter upper- and lower-case letters correctly.
The next step is to identify the type of encryption network. You can tap on your SSID from a similar menu. Depending on the device, the network encryption type shows up under the header “security”. When you have the SSID and the Network encryption type, note them down. You’ll need them for a later step.
2. Use the WiFi QR Code Generator
The WiFi QR code generator is a web app that makes the whole process a lot easier. You can use it on the Pageloot site, and access it through any device with browsing capabilities. Now it is time to create those Wi-Fi QR Codes.
3. Create the QR Code
The generator can create several QR codes. Of course, we want it to create one for your WIFI network. The app is set to create a QR code that displays the text by default. You’ll tap the button that says text if you want to change the mode. This action opens up another menu, and you can select the WIFI option.
Now it’s the time to enter the SSID, password, and select the network type. You have all these details. The password is the one you created to access the WIFI network. Note that all the information provided in this app should be correct.
The app can’t know whether you entered the incorrect or correct information. It generates the code based on the details provided.
4. Save your QR Code
You’ll save the password as a PNG image by tapping the floppy disk icon. The system might prompt you to offer permission to access the storage. If that happens, tap the setting menu and scroll down till you come across the App permissions. Tap it and ensure the storage box has a tick. Press the back button and save the icon and hit OK to save. You’ll save a copy of the QR code to your phone, which you can access later.
5. Share Your Wi-Fi Login
It is easy to share your Wi-Fi credentials once you set up the QR code. Locate the QR code in your gallery or photo app. Open the image in full screen and let your friends bring their phones over. If anyone is using an iPhone, then they should have an updated iOS. Last, let them open their WiFi QR code scanner and point it towards your screen.
