What is a social media QR code?
A social media QR code is a QR code that opens your social media profiles on a phone. It can open one profile, such as your Instagram page, or one page with a button for each of your profiles. The person scans the code, taps the link and follows you without searching for your name.
There are two ways to build it. Paste a single profile link into the free generator on this page, a QR code generator for social media, to get a code for one network. Or use the Social media type in a Pageloot account to build a page that lists all your networks behind one code. The sections below explain which one to choose.
A code for one profile is free to download as PNG, SVG or PDF, with no account needed. The page for all your networks needs a Pageloot account, which starts with a 14-day free trial.

How does a QR code for social media work?

Copy the link of your profile, for example instagram.com/yourname, and paste it into the generator at the top of this page. Scans open that profile. This is the simplest code, and it works well when one network matters most.

In your Pageloot account choose the Social media type, or Link in bio. Add a title, a short description and a button for each network. The code opens this page, and people tap the network they use.

The phone camera reads the code and the person taps the link that appears. A profile link usually opens in the network’s app if it is installed, and in the browser if not. A page with buttons opens in the browser.

With a dynamic code you can add or remove networks without reprinting. A code for one profile made in the free generator points to one link and cannot be edited later.
How to make a social media QR code?
To create QR codes for social media, you need to choose a generator like Pageloot. You can opt for the free trial or choose a free static QR code.

As you open the generator, make sure to customize your landing page, and add a headline and description that will let users know what they can find on the following social platforms.

You can then add as many social media links as you wish and even decorate them or change the color of the banners.

When you finish with the filling of the QR code, select a design for your QR code. You can change its color, frame, and borders, and even add a picture or logo to it.

To finalize the creation process of your QR code for social media, make sure to save all edits and download the code.

Why do I need a social media QR code?

Typing a handle on a phone is slow, and your name may be spelled differently on each network. A social media QR code gets the follower there in one scan. It also keeps print clean: one code replaces a row of logos and handles on a business card, a flyer or a box.
One code or one per network? Use one code for all networks if you are active on three or more, or if your handles differ. Use a code per network when you promote one network in one place, for example a TikTok code on a video poster. A code per network also gives you a separate scan count for each, which helps you compare placements.
Static or dynamic? A static code for one profile is enough if your handle will not change. Choose a dynamic code if you want a page with all your networks that you can edit, if you might rename an account, or if you want scan stats (when, where and on which device, with the detail depending on your plan). A dynamic code works only while your plan is active, apart from the lifetime deal. See the pricing page.
Frequently asked questions

Yes, you can put all social media in one QR code. To create a QR code for all social media, use the Social media type in a Pageloot account to build a page with a button for each network, and put one QR code on it. People scan, then tap the network they want. The page needs a Pageloot account, which starts with a 14-day free trial. In the free generator on this page you can make a code for one profile link.
Add the networks you really post on, usually three to six. A short list is easier to tap on a phone and shows people where you are most active. Put the most important network first. A code for a single profile holds one link.
Right on this page. Create a QR code for social media by pasting a profile link, add your logo and colors, and download the code as PNG, SVG or PDF without an account. A page that lists all your networks, and editing or scan stats, need a Pageloot account and start with a 14-day free trial.
With a page of buttons, add a button for the new account and the printed code stays the same. With a static code for one profile you need a new code. If you plan to add networks later, choose the page of buttons or a dynamic code before you print.
Open the camera app on an iPhone or Android phone, point it at the code and tap the link that appears. The profile opens in the network’s app or in the browser. Current phones need no scanner app.
Use one code for all networks if you are active on three or more, or if your handles differ. Use a code per network when you promote a single network in one place. A code per network gives you a separate scan count for each, which helps you compare placements.
A link in bio page is one page with several links. If you already have one, for example from a link-in-bio tool, paste its address into the generator on this page. To build the page with Pageloot, choose the Link in bio or Social media type in your account, add your links and use the QR code for that page. People then open the page without typing your bio link.
Yes. Upload your logo in the generator, and change the colors, shapes and frame as you like. Keep the logo small, use a dark code on a light background and scan the result on two phones before you print.

Where to Use a social media QR code? Examples

A card has little room for handles. One code about 2 to 2.5 cm wide opens a page with all your networks. Put it on the back with a short line such as “Follow me”. For contact details too, see the business card QR code generator.

Put a sign by the till or on the shop window that says “Follow us for new arrivals”. People wait at the counter with a phone in their hand. Make the code about 5 cm wide on a counter sign and 10 cm or more on a window.

Add the code to a thank-you card, a box insert or a label. Customers who have just received an order are in a good moment to follow you. A code 2 to 3 cm wide fits on an insert or label. Choose a matte area, not glossy ink or a fold.

At an event or on a poster, a code lets people follow you on the spot. Use a separate dynamic code for each event or placement to see which one brings scans. Add the event hashtag to your page.
How to get more scans for a social media QR code?
-
Say what people get
Write "Follow us for new arrivals" or "Scan for all our channels" next to the code. A frame with a call to action tells people why to scan. -
Put your best network first
On a page with buttons, the first buttons are seen first. List the networks you post on most and leave out accounts you no longer use.
-
Use one code per placement
Make a separate dynamic code for each card, sign and flyer. Scan stats then show which one works, with the detail depending on your plan. -
Test every button
Scan the finished code on an iPhone and an Android phone and tap each link before you print.
Social media QR code not working? Check these first
A private account shows a locked page or a follow request to new visitors. Make the account public if you want strangers to see your posts.

Stories disappear after 24 hours and posts can be deleted. Link to the profile or page, not to a single post, so the printed code keeps working.
If you rename an account, the old link can stop working. A static code keeps the old address. With a dynamic code you update the link and keep the printed code.

On a business card use at least 2 x 2 cm (0.8 in) with a white border. A logo in the middle is fine if it stays small. Test the finished card on two phones.
Which social networks can you link to?

Use your profile link, instagram.com/yourname. Copy it from your profile in a browser, or use Share profile in the app. See the Instagram QR code generator.

Use this QR code generator for a Facebook page: paste the address of your page, for example facebook.com/yourpage. Visitors who are not logged in may see a login prompt. See the Facebook QR code generator.

Use tiktok.com/@yourname. Open your profile in the app, tap the share icon and copy the link.

Use your channel address, youtube.com/@yourhandle. See the YouTube QR code generator for video and playlist links.

Use linkedin.com/in/yourname for a person or linkedin.com/company/yourcompany for a company page. See the LinkedIn QR code generator.

Any network with a web address works. WhatsApp uses a link such as wa.me/ followed by your number, see the WhatsApp QR code generator. For X use x.com/yourname.
