How to change your Facebook URL (username)
For your profile or Page, Facebook lets you set a username for free, turning a long default link into a clean one like facebook.com/yourname. Facebook moves its menus around often, but the path is roughly:
- Profile: open Settings & privacy → Settings, find Username (under your account/general settings), pick a username, and save.
- Page: go to your Page, open its settings, and set a unique username under the Page's identity/about section.
- Usernames need at least 5 characters and must be unique. Pick something close to your brand.

Link shortener (Pageloot)
Shortens any Facebook link, posts, groups, events, Marketplace, plus tracks clicks, adds a QR code, lets you add a custom keyword, and (on paid) lets you edit where the link points later.
Facebook post and photo URLs include long IDs and parameters like story_fbid, which makes them messy to share. Shortening turns that into a clean link you can put anywhere.
How to shorten a Facebook link
Three steps, and it works for posts, groups, and events:
- Copy the Facebook link — open the post, group, or event, use the ⋯ or Share → Copy link option, or copy the URL from the address bar.
- Paste and shorten — drop it into the URL shortener and click Shorten. You get a short
pageloot.com/s/link instantly, with a matching QR code. - Share and track — post it, send it, or print its QR code, then watch the clicks.
Want it branded? Add your own keyword to the link for free (for example pageloot.com/s/my-event).
Why shorten Facebook links
Clean, shareable links
Swap a long post or event URL for a short, branded link that's easy to read and share across channels.
Track the clicks
Facebook doesn't show click data on links you share. A short link does, basic free, detailed (location, device, time) on paid.
A QR code too
Every short link comes with a QR code, perfect for flyers, posters, packaging, and in-store signs that point to your Page or event.
On a paid Pageloot plan, links are also editable, so a QR code on a printed flyer can point to next month's event without reprinting anything.
Where to use short Facebook links
- Posts and comments — share an event, group, or external page with a clean link.
- Groups and events — give members a short link that's easy to remember and pass around.
- Facebook & Instagram ads — a clean, trackable link reads better and lets you measure click-throughs.
- Cross-platform — promote a Facebook post or event on Instagram, X/Twitter, or email with one short link.
- Print & in-store — drop the link's QR code on flyers, posters, or window signs. → QR code generator
Facebook links + QR codes
Every short link comes with its own QR code. Print it on a flyer, poster, or in-store sign and anyone who scans it lands on your Facebook Page, group, or event. On a paid plan you can change that destination later without reprinting, so the same QR can point to your next event whenever you want.
